Been drawing figure 8's on pictures of you lately I've been thumbing a softy Been thumbing a softy Ran through parades of which our fathers throw The band play on nine verses of killing me softly Of killing me softly “That's an awfully nice haircut Where did you get that head from?” The paintings are switched, they're double-dipped And the singer just keeps on getting the words wrong So I drove nine laps of the city I drove nine laps of this place If someone's God really made you look that pretty I would throw my back out prayin' I've been rifling designer purses And trying to work back to where you've been working I've been trying on every perfume And trying to find one that reminds me of you But in a way, I'm an antithesis-esque Philip Oakey I know you don't want me I know you don't want me I guess you're all caught up in multitasking golden age TV If you felt so strongly If you felt so strongly You'd throw your back out, we'd throw it back Some throwback, sometime So I drove nine laps of the city I drove nine laps of this place If someone's god really made you look that pretty I would throw my back out prayin' I've been rifling designer purses And trying to work back to where you've been working I've been trying on every perfume And trying to find one that reminds me of you And I'll admit that I've been writing shorter verses Just to get back to this part And I'll be taking no more chances Until I get my happy ending We'd throw our backs out, we'd throw it back Some throwback, sometime

[LYRICS] I went away for a while (I come back all the time) I can't leave this town I’m not a pop-punk band Now she's calling a cab Yeah she’s calling a cab And I couldn’t care more I’ve been thinking for a long time On the off chance, no problem if not But have you heard of this one place? I think we should go there, I’d turn my phone off for a while And now that I’m a popstar I’ve been smoking all the time I’ve been wearing ricks and he said that it’s fine So if you need a bad bitch I can try, oh I can try But it gets harder in the morning LAN not wired It makes me want to - i see you All the time So I CC subject line RE: how’ve you been Well I’ve been fine I saw a picture of you Knew it went right to your head A W to be fair, an outrageous flex And I’ve been thinking for a long time On the off chance, no problem If not But have you heard of this one place? I think we should go there, I can’t turn my phone off because- now that I’m a popstar I’ve been working all the time I’ve been wearing ricks and he said that it’s fine So if you need a bad bitch - I can try, Oh I can try But it gets harder in the morning LAN not wired It makes me want to - I see you All the time So I CC subject line RE: how’ve you been Well I’ve been fine I just wanna ball out with my friends I wish my lifestyle was publicised livestreamed lie in, forever Livestreamed lie in forever (one, two, three) And the car park ends at 2am So we can’t get back home to our beds Yeah we can’t get back home to our beds Yeah we can’t get back home (One, two, three, four!) I just want to ball out with my friends I wish my lifestyle was publicised livestreamed lie in, forever Live streamed lie in forever And the car park ends at 2am So we can’t get back home to our beds Yeah we can’t get back home to our beds No, we can’t get back home to our beds now

What's a couple pounds to a girl like me Well, I've been breathing softly, only since the 80s I see you all the time in magazines Oh, you're so pretty, so I tell you you're pretty You said when you got home you'd have time for me So I took a taxi, passed out in the backseat Pictured you spinning me round' like some movie scene When I woke up you weren't with me, the headlights left me dizzy And our song was on like— "Oh, Em G I hope you're okay Well, I can't believe it's happening again” And I know it gets better It needs to hurt sometimes I know you kept calling Well hell, I called five times tonight And I, oh I And I could lose myself But only for a minute And I can't seem to talk myself back into it And I, oh I And I can't believe that you've settled down And I can't believe that you're better now We were running for the school bus And the TV schedule never changed It's a managed decline Compared to the 60s 2009, it looks good on paper and Everything looks like a landing strip these days So I find your number I call you and I say— "Oh, Em G I hope you're okay Well, I can't believe it's happening again" Well, I know it gets better It needs to hurt sometimes I know you kept calling Well hell, I called five times tonight And I, oh I And I could lose myself But only for a minute And I can't seem to talk myself back into it, I And I, oh I And I can't believe that you've settled down And I can't believe that you're better now And I didn't mind all the long nights (Only because) You were there the whole time (And I) Would take the stains out of your jeans You kept everything intertwined And I Tried my best but I can't lie (When I'm with them) I think about you the whole time (When I'm with them) I think about you the whole time (When I'm with them) I think about you the whole time And I can't believe that you've settled down And I can't believe that you're better now

about

New Last Name isn't REALLY a play. Whilst it IS tied together by a narrative thread – it’s actually a collection of our most contained pop songs, and strangest experiments sat side by side. 'New Last Name' is unrestrained and chaotic, and at the same time more focused and detail-oriented than anything we've done before. It’s a study in contradictions, and it’s the best damn play south of the north pole.
